Self-Care September Week 2!

Welcome back to week 2 of Self-Care September! This post will round up and report back how the second week of the self care and kindness challenge went and how I felt about it. I hope you enjoyed week 1 and that you will enjoy the rest of the tag. If you do join in tag me on Twitter at @allthingsalexx_ or leave me a comment letting me know so I can check it out. Let’s spread the love and self care!

Saturday 8th!

Today’s challenge was to try something new no matter how big or small. Today I tried wearing a dark berry shimmery eyeshadow look on a date night. No it isn’t exactly mind blowing but it was something new for me. I don’t really feel comfortable in bold make up because I don’t want to look like a clown but at the end of the day I said fuck it and went for it, and I felt great for it! I felt pretty great and it turned out okay! I will insert a picture here but you will also be seeing that same picture in another post very soon so keep your eyes out for that.

Sunday 9th!

Write five things you’re grateful for today!

Today I was at my nannying job, and it is a very hard but fulfilling job. I have worked with these children for four years now and I have such a special bond with them that they mean so much to me and that makes my job special. So thinking of this list today is quite an easy one because they help me put things into perspective and to show me how lucky I really am

  1. Today I am grateful for the lessons my children teach me. They teach me kindness and love and passion and empathy in so many ways and that has moulded me as a person.
  2. I am grateful for the people that are on my team. This involves family members and friends, and describing the collection of incredible people as my team is perfect because they support me and help me and provide me with a feeling of safety. So today I am very grateful for my boyfriend, my brothers, my cousins, my parents and my friends. You all know who you are.
  3. I am grateful for the opportunities I get because of how hard I have worked and the way I was raised. I was given the freedom of choice to try to experience the sector I think I want to work in and to be able to do a college course which gives me experience as well as keeps me where I need to be.
  4. I am grateful for the people in my life that have passed, my lost team members if you will. My nan who always stood by me and was my guardian angel from day one, the woman who believed in me and loved me for who I was and the amazing lady who showed me incredible strength, devotion and love by example.
  5. I am grateful for a roof over my head, food in my belly and clothes on my back.

Monday 10th!

Declutter your friendship list on Facebook!

  • Now I did this once I left school because I was just so sick of seeing these people who I only was interested in to not cause myself trouble. But now I’m in the big bag world not caring at all about what people think and wanting rid of all of the BS floating around social media. Since it has been over a year since I left school I am going to do another round of decluttering and get rid of anybody who I feel like isn’t worth seeing.
  • As you can see I got rid of 102 people who I felt like weren’t having any positive affect on my life and were also just people who I felt like I needed to impress in school. I do feel really detoxed now!
  • Tuesday 11th!
  • Eat one of your favourite foods!
  • Sadly I didn’t get any pictures of my favourite because I didn’t think to and I wasn’t in the best of moods. I had my first day back at college and it wasn’t great so my amazing boyfriend decided to cook my favourite meal FAJITAS! It made me feel a bit better about my day and after my favourite meal, a cuddle and a nice hot shower I felt much better
  • Wednesday 12th!
  • Try yoga!
  • I decided to incorporate this into my work life, because I work in Early Years I obviously cannot take pictures of us doing the yoga but I will link the video we followed down below. The children are loving the book “we’re going on a bear hunt” so I found this Bear Hunt yoga session and we followed that. After the children had their quiet time after lunch we decided to keep the zen mood going by doing a small session of yoga! I found it so nice and calming to do it and to show the children it too. I think we might do this as regularly as we can without the children getting bored because it really did relax them and us.

  • Thursday 13th!
  • Do something nice for someone else
  • Everyday I try to do a good deed of the day no matter how big or small. They usually are small things such as giving up my seat on the bus for somebody or holding the door but I feel like these things should be genuine all the time. Today was no different however I made an extra conscious to ask the girls I work with if I can do something for them and to just go above and beyond my job role to help my colleagues out. This has been the most beneficial and significant challenge of all because I have done in the two weeks I have been doing this tag because it has given me the most satisfaction. Buying myself things or pampering myself is all well and good but being productive and helpful has really brightened my mindset.

  • Friday 14th
  • Have an hours pamper session!
  • This may be cheating but I just do not have the time today to have an hours pamper session however on my day off on Sunday I will have one. So I am spending time today to plan out my schedule for my day off and part of that will be an hours pamper session. I will be washing my hair and doing a hair mask, shave my entire body, exfoliate my face and body, do a face mask and lie in bed with a good book in my fresh pj’s and fresh bedding. That will be my hours pamper session instead of having one today. I wish I could have one today but with a shift at each job today I will not be home until 10:30pm and I will be exhausted.
  • That is my round up of week two of my #SelfCareSeptember; two weeks down two to go! I have really enjoyed this second week and can’t wait to see what the next two weeks have in store for me! Please tag me in your tweets or posts on this tag if you’re joining in and don’t forget to check out @jenny_marston_xo who created this challenge!

      1. Tell me about it, cleaning really isn’t my forte but that’s the beauty of this challenge. It’s all about finding new ways to look after yourself and relax.
