With the very little time I spend at home due to my college course, my work placement and my two jobs I like to keep it as relaxing and welcoming as possible. I also need to have things that will make me achieve this goal as quickly and as cheaply as possible.
So my first home essential is Zoflora, this is a concentrated disinfectant which kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses which is ESSENTIAL when working with children because they carry and pass on so many illnesses that I need some sort of protection. It is multi use and so it helps me clean and freshen up my home efficiently. I love the Peach scent as well as the Pink Grapefruit one because they’re fragrances that last for a while but also do the job at cleaning. I have a ready made diluted spray bottle on hand for any everyday jobs such as wiping down surfaces but also for jobs such as cleaning handles, mopping, and making the bin smell fresh.
My second home essential of the month is my Yankee Candle in Vanilla Cupcake, this is something that adds a nice warm scent to my home but also adds a relaxing feel to it. For my mental health, down time is so important and having a small indulgence such as a Yankee Candle does help me with winding down.
My third and final home essential is a nice hot water bottle! You can get these in most stores and they come with various covers, I love the primark Disney ones but that’s just me. I find this lovely for keeping your bed warm in the colder months but it also helps with saving some money because it puts you off from putting on the heating too soon.
Now I am not a fashion orientated human being, however being comfy is my forte and so I have some fashion essentials for the transition between summer and autumn.
JUMPERS! Any type of jumpers will do. I have sweatshirt type jumpers, cable knit jumpers, velvety knit jumpers, thick jumpers, thin jumpers and hoody’s to name a few. They are essential, in the warmer parts of autumn have a thin jumper over a t-shirt for when it’s cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon and when it is closer to winter get your big wooly jumpers on to keep snug.
Another fashion essential for autumn and winter are boots. They’re like fashionable wellies, and not gonna lie to you if I could wear wellies I really would. I live in the north of England and to be honest autumn/winter isn’t as crisp and instagrammable as it is in the movies, it’s more slushy and grey than anything so boots are great for comfort, warmth and slush-proofness.
Beauty products such as skincare, hair care and make up are something I have a greater interest in than fashion so I have a few more essentials in this category. My biggest beauty related problem during autumn heading into winter is dryness: dry scalp, dry face, dry body and dry lips. So I need all the moisture I can get.
So my first beauty related essential is the Body Shop Vitamin E Sink-In Moisture Mask which I use on a night time and then just rinse it off in the morning. So on the colder days my skin isn’t drying out becoming sore because it has the whole night to moisturise.
My second beauty autumn essential is the Body Shop Almond Milk And Honey body lotion which sinks in really quickly and smells divine. I apply it every night, especially after a shower, or whenever I feel my skin getting a bit dry and it keeps my skin moisturised and without any sore patches.
My third beauty product is a bronzer! The bronzer I’m trying to use up at the moment is the Revolution Ultra Sculpt and Contour Kit in 001 Ultra Fair, this is a pretty good bronzer for lighter skin tones for £3.50 which is such a steal. I would say bronzer is an autumn essential for me because my tan from summer is fading and my face is naturally paler than my body and sometimes I can look ill or even dead with my pasty complexion. So I feel like it is essential for me to feel good about my skin with a bit of bronzer on my skin, most days I don’t even bother with any other make up products just bronzer and a lick of highlight to make me seem more alive.
My fourth beauty product is my Aussie Deep Treatment 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor mask because like I have said I get super dry in the autumn winter time and I want my hair to be as healthy and hydrated as possible. Plus with the winter blues on their way who doesn’t want a nice hair mask to pamper themselves with on a cold autumn night.
My fifth beauty product and my final essential is exfoliators! See I’ve just started to use the Lacura Healthy Glow toner which is a dupe of the Pixi Glow tonic. With the darker, duller days setting in I feel like my skin just needs a little boost, and when you use a liquid chemical exfoliator like the Lacura one it removes any dull dead skin and reveals nice, renewed glowy skin underneath. Perfect!
