School is over for the academic year and the sun is shining. Everyone is much happier and the days are longer. More evenings in the garden drinking fruity drinks and spending time with people who feel like the sun to you. That my friend is summer summed up. Another amazing thing I love about summer is all of the social events we get to attend because of the longer and warmer nights. Whilst at these social occasions I love to play with make up and replicate the beauty that is summer by the colours I apply to my face. So this summer why not be a bit more daring and include some more colour into your looks? I am definitely going to and so I thought I could show you a few ways of how you could do that. These range from a small pop of colour to a statement colour which can brighten up your day and your confidence.
Adding a pop of colour on the lower lash line will add a subtle yet noticeable accent of colour to your look. This could be achieved by using a coloured shadow, liner or even mascara to the lower lash line to help your eyes stand out.
Here I have applied a shimmery aqua shadow from the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette called Pool Party onto the lower lash line to make my blue eyes stand out and to draw more attention to my eyes.
A much more subtle way to adding colour to your make up looks is by making your inner corner highlight bright and colourful. This will also make your eyes pop but it is much less obvious than when it’s all over your lower lash line. It’s also great for adding some colour to a more natural make up look.
I used the aqua colour called “Pool Party” from my Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette on my inner corner here:

A great way to add colour to a natural or basic make up look is by creating a colourful liner! It adds a really cool look and is perfect for spring and summer as it can be much more long lasting than other eye products in them warmer months if you get oilier eyelids.
Here I have created a blue shadow liner using the shade Blue Curaçao from the September Rose Slush Palette (review for that here)
Some more inspiration!
Another way in which you can bring some colour to your make up look is by using spring/summer inspired shades of shadow and creating a monochromatic eye look using that. It is so simple and so effective as it brings attention to the eyes and also looks like you’ve made a tonne of effort when realistically you’ve blended one shade all over the eye lid! This can be done with matte or shimmery shadows depending on the effect you’re going for.
Here’s some examples of this method I’ve seen from some of my favourites!
My fifth and final way in which to incorporate some colour into your summer make up looks is by being bright and bold on the lip. Whether that be a classic orange red or bright pink or even blue, a statement lip really boosts your colour count as well as your confidence! My go to is a bright orange/red to make me feel summery and confident!
