#MakeUpMondays: 8 Affordable beauty products I ACTUALLY recommend

Since 2017, I have fallen head over hells in love with makeup and beauty but sadly my bank account has not. The beauty industry is a huge money machine and man sometimes good products are so so expensive, and so over the past two years I have found some really great affordable products which I wanted to share with you. So if you like affordable and AMAZING products please keep reading and don’t forget to like and leave me a comment about your favourite affordable products.

ELF Poreless Putty Primer

This primer was one which had HUGE hype on 2019 but man is it worth the hype. I have loved this primer because it is primer that ACTUALLY fills in and smoothes out your pores, I have tried pore filling primers which cost more than this that have less of an impact. The best way to use it is on your bare moisturised skin and just press it into your porous areas with your fingers, the warmth of your fingers really works it into the skin and helps it work even more. I sometimes like to add a light layer of loose powder onto the top of this primer to lock it in and help the longevity of the effect, however if you do do this make sure you’re really vigilant with washing your face afterwards because you want to make sure you get it out of your pores. This primer is affordable which is great but you get SO much product for your money that it makes it even more worth it. ELF is available pretty much all over the world so it is really accessible as well.

L’Oreal Infallable 24 Hour Freshwear

This foundation came out in the first part of 2019 and was also massively hyped on social media by the likes of Kathleen Lights. This foundation is a really watery texture so it feels so lightweight on the skin and gives you a medium coverage from one pump and then will build up to more of a fuller coverage with more layers. It works really well with a brush and a sponge which is great as it will work with whatever your preferences are, I have also tried it using my fingers but I feel like it just didn’t work as well due to it having a more medium coverage. This foundation sets down itself very gently so you don’t need to powder it if you don’t want to, once it is set down it is more durable than a more dewy foundation. I have worn this to funerals and even when I’ve cried and dabbed it away with a tissue it looks exactly the same because it is so durable. It’s such a stunning foundation and great for all of the seasons, it is worth the buy because it can be used in so many different ways and in different times/places. You can get L’Oreal in pretty much everywhere so it is easy to find too.

Revolution x Soph highlighter palette

This palette is a collaboration with UK Beauty Youtuber Soph from SophDoesNails and it came out about a year or two ago. It is a full highlighter palette which has 8 shades in it, it has a white, two champagnes, a true gold, a pink, a purple and then two more bronze shades, it also has a mixture of baked and normal highlighter. The fact that it is a palette means that it is really versatile as it gives you options for colours and formulas, this makes it more worth the money. I have been using this palette for over a year now and I have basically used up the entire white shade and nearly hit pan on one of the champagne shades so I have had so much use out of it and there is so much product there. I have used this all over my body too when I am on holiday and I have used the bronze shades as shimmery bronzers too so I can get use of all of the shades. I have found that I can use the majority of the shades as highlight and so it is so worth it for me, and I can imagine that this will work the most for light to medium tan skin tones, however I feel like dark and deep skin tones can use it as there are some darker tones but they wont be able to use all fo the shades. So you’ll have to decide whether it’ll be worth it for you. This palette is from Revolution Beauty who are available in stores in many countries but also ship to most countries in the world from their international website.

MUA Blushed Liquid Cream Blusher

These are the newest in my collection but they’re quickly a favourite. These liquid blushes are obviously meant to be a dupe for the Glossier cloud paints which are £15 each, whereas these MUA ones are £2.50. I currently own the colours Taupe Tango (an orange brown nude tone) and Tiger Lily (a bright orange) and I love them both so much. They’re a liquid formula which can either be sheer or built up bright, which makes them really versatile. They can be applied using your fingers, sponge sniffing brush which is great for people to choose whichever way they love to apply liquid blush. I have used it with my fingers which gives it the best coverage, a beauty sponge which makes it the most natural looking and a Real Techniques Setting Brush and veiled it over the skin to give it a flawless finish. They can also be used on the eyes and lips if you wanted a monochromatic editorial look or you want to multi use your products. These may be small but they contain so much product and you only use a small amount each time so it is so worth the money, especially since it is so little money too. I also love that you can mix these blushes too so if you wanted to create your own custom shade you very easily can do, they also build up and layer well on the skin so they’re just so amazing. However I am not sure whether MUA is available worldwide but I think they’re available in America and are definitely available in the UK so check them out if you wanted the glossier one but couldn’t bring yourself to spend that much money on one liquid blush.

Essence Volume Stylist Lash Extension Mascara

I have had a really hard time finding a mascara which I actually love because I have really straight lashes which don’t hold a curl very well, however this is the closest I have gotten to a mascara holy grail. This mascara has a smaller wand and brush which makes it so much easier to apply and get into the bases of the lashes. The formula is lovely as it is not too wet or too thick and applies beautifully to the lashes, and it is so affordable. I love that I can get a really good mascara for around £3, because to me it’s not the most important products on my face but I still want it on there.

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso

Blush is my absolute jam okay so no wonder that there are two blushes in this post, however this one is a powder blush. Milani are probably more expensive (in the UK) than other affordable brands but they’re still not as expensive as high end brand. This blush, especially in the shade Luminoso, has a lovely sheen to it which makes it look so glowy and gorgeous on the skin. They’re so finely milled powders so they don’t look heavy but they have a gorgeous amount of pigment. It’s a formula I love and I recommend them so much.

Revolution Sheer Lip

This lip formula is one which is affordable, light weight, comfortable, non sticky and also comes in over 30 shades. It’s so affordable that you could buy a fair few of the shades and it still be cheaper than one higher end lipgloss. I love these lips because they’re such a pigmented gloss which aren’t too sticky or heavy on the lips. You will see more on these glosses in another post of mine coming very soon!

Cold Pressed 100% Natural Castor Oil

My 8th product is not a make up item but it still is a beauty product is castor oil. This product has been something I’ve loved using for many different things and wanted to share it with you. I’ve been using this brushed into my lashes and brows to help them grow, I’ve used it to remove hard to stubborn makeup (mainly liquid lipstick) and also as a scalp and hair mask. I’ve seen such a different in my lashes since I’ve started using it every night and I’m excited to see how much it helps in the future. I also love it as a scalp treatment as it helps hydrate my scalp and nourish it amazingly. It also works great as a makeup remover, but I wouldn’t use it everyday on my skin but when I’m struggling to get some makeup products off I love using it. I bought mine for £6 off amazon for a HUGE bottle so it is definitely affordable and you don’t need to use a lot in one time because it is so thick.

That my friends are my 8 affordable beauty products I would ACTUALLY recommend, what do you think? I love all of these products and hope you guys do too. If you have any products you recommend then please leave them down below in the comments so I can see!

  1. This is the second blog post I’ve seen talk about Revolution products. I don’t think I’ve run into this brand just yet. But I am right there with you, make up can be so expensive! I am all for the affordability. The Elf primer looks quite interesting and something I would like to try. I’m currently using an Ulta coconut primer and so far I’ve been liking it. I really like your MakeupMondays segment, creative! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and recommendations 😀

    1. Thank you so much for reading today and leaving me a comment! Revolution can create such amazing affordable products and so I feel like they’re a great brand to share about. The ELF Primer is amazing and does what people claim higher end primers do so it may be worth looking into if it does what you want it to. Thank you so much! I too adore the MakeUpMondays series because it lets me separate my content out and let’s me be as multidimensional as I truly am. Thank you for the feedback!

  2. I’ve heard really good things about the e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer – it is supposed to be an amazing dupe for the Tatcha Silk Canvas. Based on your description it sounds like it really is!!

I completely agree with you on the Milani Baked Blushes – as a whole, I freaking LOVE so much of what Milani puts out.

I’ve still yet to try anything from Revolution but those glosses sound lovely!

    1. I could never bring myself to buy the Tatcha one, especially since the ELF one does so much for me. It is really worth getting your hands on and gives your base a smooth canvas to work on. I’ve only used Milani Blushes so I can’t comment on the rest of it but I’ve heard so much about Milani as a brand. Revolution are a great brand however now they’ve released so much you’ve got to sift through all of their products to find what you’ll love and use. But their formulas are usually pretty great and consistent so you’ll do alright with trying a few things out first time. These glosses are next level for the brand and for only being £3!

  3. Everyone is so enthusiastic about the e.l.f. poreless putty primer and I’m so curious by now! The things you say about it makes me want to try it even more. I’m definitely putting it on my wishlist and I need to buy one when my other primers are empty!

    1. It is a really great primer as you can ACTUALLY see the difference between having it on and not having it on. It depends on your skin though, I always use it just in my t zone and then add a hydrating primer on top on the rest of my face. It is amazing and is so affordable so it’s definitely worth it!

  5. I love the Poreless Putty Primer SO much. It’s honestly such a dream and I’m so glad I have it. It’s one of those products that truly lives up to the hype! I also have the highlighter palette and Milani blusher lol so I think we might have similar taste. Those MUA blushers sound really cute, though, so I’d love to check them out. Also, castor oil is awesome, it really helped lengthen and thicken my eyelashes! Thanks for sharing xxx
