I have been watching A LOT of Makemeupmissa recently and she posted a video doing the Diary of a Beauty Addict 2019 tag and I loved the idea so I wanted to do it too! Definitely go and check out Melissa on YouTube and Instagram to be inspired and be in love. So here are my answers for this tag!
How much money did you spend on makeup in 2019?
Wow okay so 2019 was the year that I found my love for the creativity of makeup and so I started investing in my collection much more. However I wouldn’t say I have spent an excessive amount in comparison to some other makeup lovers. I would say that in the year I have spent about £450 on makeup over all, and that is A LOT for me but I’m in love with every piece in my collection so I don’t feel as bad.
What is the best product you bought in 2019?
There are so many products I bought in 2019 that I have LOVED so dearly (I mean if you want a more detailed list check out my Best of Beauty post) however I have truly found my personal love and style in makeup this year. So there are quite a few products which have attributed to that finding of myself and my passion. I will choose 3 products as I can’t just choose one and they are as follows:
- Mac Face and Body Foundation. This was the start to my love for glass skin and lower coverage
- Liquid/Cream Blush. If I’m honest I have become a dewy blushing gal in 2019 and the product which has changed my life the most is cream and liquid blushes as they are something I can add to my bare skin, full glam or natural skin looks.
- Anastasia Beverly Hills x Jackie Aina palette. This palette is the first high end palette I have purchased and it was the love of my life over the summer. It is a gorgeous palette which inspires me massively and introduced me to the rich jewel tones I’m in love with. It’s the purchase that brought me the most joy in 2019.
What is one thing you wish you hadn’t bought in 2019?
If I am going to truly honest here I would have to say the GlossyBox advent calendar. That statement makes me feel so sad because I think it’s a great advent calendar and I love all of the products within it dearly but I didn’t need all of it. So next year I won’t be buying into the advent calendar hype!
Do you buy makeup you don’t need, because you feel pressure to keep up?
No not at all, I don’t feel any pressure to keep up with anything because I do things at my own pace and only use/buy what I love. However I do sometimes buy things I don’t need period. Like I love them and use them but realistically I don’t need them. So that’s why I’ve started a bit of a low/no buy in 2020 so I just use and love everything in my collection and don’t just buy buy buy.
How many eyeshadow palettes have you bought last year, and have you used them all?
I bought 11 eyeshadow palettes in 2019 and I can happily say I have used them all at least 3 times! Now I have received one for Christmas which I haven’t used yet but I just haven’t had chance to get to it but it’ll be getting used very soon so don’t worry about that. The fact that I haven’t bought excessive amounts of makeup and also the fact that I like to use and review the palettes I get, means I use my makeup regularly and a decent amount in that time. I like to do make up for looks for social media, to test them, to wear for the day, for an event, for makeup therapy and creative outlets, so it always gets used and loved.
If you could only keep 5 products you currently own for 2020, what would they be?
- Glossier Stretch Concealer
- Colourpop So Jaded Palette
- MUA Blushed Liquid Cream Blushes
- Fenty Glow Gloss Bomb
- Tarte Park Avenue Princess Chisel Palette
Have you hit pan on anything you’ve bought in 2019?
I have used up and hit pan on skincare products but unfortunately I haven’t on any makeup in 2019. I have definitely used up some makeup products but more liquid/cream ones are easier to use up or dent than powders. I would love to change that in 2020 as there are a few things which have a significant dip in them where I could hit pan.
What are your favourite and least favourite brands of 2019?
- Anastasia Beverly Hills
- Fenty Beauty
Least Favourite Brands:
- Wet n Wild
- Beauty Bay Own Brand
Be honest, are you a make up snob?
Girl no, I don’t have enough spare change to be a makeup snob. I like to support brands I want to support and if they’re more expensive I will but I’m not a snob in the way of the price dictates whether something is good. I am willing to try anything that really sounds or looks good to me.
How many eyeshadow palettes do you currently own?
I currently own 15 eyeshadow palettes which is obviously more than I need but I love every single one of them and use them all as much as I can. But I would love to just not buy anymore for a while and let myself use up and love on my products.
That was the Diary of a Beauty Addict 2019 tag and it was so much fun, I loved thinking about the makeup I love and the products of the year and sharing them with you. I will be tagging some of my friends to do this but even if you’re not tagged definitely do this and send it my way so I can see it!
