Welcome to my third favourites post of the year! Did you catch up on my last one? If not and you like these posts then definitely check out my February Favourites post. In these favourites posts I talk about beauty favourites, clothing favourites, Lifestyle favourites media favourites and my favourite people of the month! So lets get into it all..
ELF Hydrating Camo Concealer
If you don’t follow me on here or Instagram you won’t know my love for dewy, hydrating and glowing skin. However if you do follow me you know that it is NO surprise that my favourite base product this month is the E.L.F Hydrating Camo Concealer. The original concealer was released over a year ago and it was a full coverage, matte concealer, and even though it was a great concealer it just wasn’t skin like enough for me. So when this hydrating version of the concealer was released I was BUZZING, I bought this in late February and have religiously used it since. I like using this as my full base product because it has enough coverage to have a light layer of this and nothing else which I love. I like how it is a natural satin finish so it leaves a smooth but hydrated layer of coverage on my skin.
If you like a hydrating, natural satin concealer then you can get this at Boots, Superdrug and ELF Cosmetics Website for only £6.
Weleda Skin Food
I follow an absolute makeup goddess on Instagram called Katie Jane Hughes, and she creates the type of makeup I adore and aspire to wear: glowing, targeted and gorgeous. She always talks about the Weleda Skin Food which is a hydrating skincare product that can be used as a last step of your skincare routine or the first step of your makeup routine. It really hydrates the skin and gives it a natural sheen without breaking down your makeup. I only bought it at the start of this month when I released that I could buy Weleda at Holland and Barrett in the UK for a very affordable price. The smaller size of it is about £7 and the larger one is £12, so you have the option to try a smaller size for a more manageable price tag.
This product is available at Holland and Barrett online and instores.
Benefit Galifornia Blush
I tried out this blush in my Five First Impressions IGTV Video which I filmed at the start of march and posted last week, and since then I have been using it so so much. On my light skin tone this shade is a bright coral colour with a slight sheen that looks like if your face caught the sun slightly. It is a nicely pigmented blush that you only need a small amount at a time but not too pigmented that you have to be overly careful with it when applying it. It is an overall gorgeous formula and shade of blush which I love using especially now the weather is getting warmer and the spring and summer months are rolling in.
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution.
I bought this product a few months ago when I decided I want to use more acids to chemically exfoliate my face. It was such an affordable option and works amazingly, hours after I use it my face is so smooth and I can tell it’s working over time. It is something to use for between 6-10 minutes depending on how sensitive your skin is and only use it twice a week because you can damage your skin if you use it too much.
Lucy and Yak Dungarees
In the month of March I found the brand Lucy and Yak on Instagram and I have purchased two pairs of dungarees since then. I have been wearing them so so much ( as you’ll see on my Instagram ) and LOVING them. Lucy and Yak as a brand are amazing as they create sustainable, gorgeous and practical clothing whilst paying their staff in the UK AND in India a fair living wage. They support different issues and causes around the world and are just a generally and holistically good company which I am proud to support.
The two pairs of dungarees I have bought and been loving this month were both limited edition sadly but both gorgeous and unique, I bought the Sunflower Digital Print Dungarees and the Lily Limited Edition Cotton Dungarees in Floral Print by Carolyn Gavin. Both sets are different and unique which is something I love about this company. The Lily dungarees are printed on 100% cotton which is a “new, slightly thicker twill” than the other dungarees but are still their “classic cut dungaree” so they’re an oversized fit with adjustable tie straps, three front pockets and a tapered leg which are PERFECT for rolling them up. The Sunflower pair are made from a woven cotton and then digitally printed on to, they are still 100% cotton but they are a little more lightweight than the other dungarees so they’re better for the warmer weather. I love both pairs and have worn them out for walks, to wear around the house and even made Tik Toks on the trampoline in them (go check out my Tik Tok @alexandriakaywrites). So if you are able to afford them and want to join the #comfortmovement then I would 100% recommend. They have amazing resources to help you decide sizes and are very active on their Instagram so you can ask as many questions as you want.
If you want to shop Lucy and Yak then head over to their website and check them out.
When I was in Cardiff earlier in the month I purchased some checkered culottes from Asda because they looked cool for spring and summer. I tried them on when I was down there and FELL IN LOVE, since then I have worn the SHIT out of them. They’re on multiple Instagram posts and they’re so comfortable and practice. I highly recommend them!!
You can shop these at George at Asda online or in store and they’re only £14 which is a STEAL.
Reasons To Stay Alive by Matt Haig
A book shop I follow on Twitter called the Big Green Book Shop do a weekly series called #buyastrangerabookday where they invite people to buy others a book, and I got bought Matt Haig’s Reasons to Stay Alive. This book was so useful for my mental health when I was struggling at the start of the month and it was such an easy thing to read through. It made me think about things in a different way and was so interesting to read someone else’s story with anxiety and depression. I highly recommend that you read this if you feel like it will benefit you.
You can obviously buy this from any big retailer but I would like to recommend you buy it from a smaller shop such as the Big Green Book Shop to support small businesses and their family.
Music of the month!
This month I have been feeling much more stressed and tense, so I have been listening to two types of music: spiritual music and happy, dance tunes. For the spiritual music I have been listening to the newest Hillsong Worship album which has been really helpful in uplifting my thoughts and my faith. My favourites have been Awake My Soul, Bright As The Sun, and See The Light. For the happy dance music there has been a huge diversity in that, I. Have just been listening to anything that makes me want to dance which makes me feel very very happy. My favourites this month have been Gold Dust by DJ Fresh, Lonely by Joel Corry, Don’t Call Me Up by Mabel, and Flowers by Nathan Dawn and Jaykae.
As mentioned before I took a trip to Cardiff to go stay with my best friend and cousin in one because he is down at university there. We spent our week wandering HUGE supermarkets, we went to Bristol Zoo, spent a day in the city centre and went to Barry Island as well as visiting local cafes, bakeries and pubs. So my visit to Cardiff is my lifestyle favourite of the month. I have shared a few different pictures of my trip on instagram if you want to check them out but I will leave a few of my faves here for you.
Abi from MidSizeGal
My first favourite person this month is Abi from MidSizeGal on Instagram. She used to be Abisblog but now she is Mid Size Gal as she creates some really bomb mid size fashion content. She is the queen of the ‘crotch shot’ which is a type of fashion shot she specialises in and is turning so many people onto it. She is such a ray of sunshine on instagram as she is fun and doesn’t take herself too seriously which is nice to see. She also is very open and honest about body confidence and she just shows her true self which is infectious and inspirational. So definitely go and check her out if you haven’t already!
My second favourite person this month is the Canadian beauty guru Jamie Paige. Jamie s a beauty influencer who is so down to earth and calming, especially when I feel anxious or stressed I watch her content and feel so much better. She creates calming beauty tutorials, favourites and also other informative content about beauty. She is a gem in the beauty community and highly recommend.
My final favourite person this month is Jack from Makeup By Jack on YouTube and Instagram. He creates makeup and beauty content including tutorials, creative looks and other type of beauty videos. He has a great personality which makes his videos fun to watch and it’s so inspirational to see how he creates his artistic makeup looks. He is also pretty active right now so go and check him out.
Now I’m going to address this elephant in the room just at the end of this post because I didn’t want to ignore it but also I don’t want it to take over everything in life. Yes at the time of posting this we are going through a global pandemic which has resulted in social distancing, self isolation and a country wide lockdown. I have decided I’m going to continue posting content during it to help provide people with distraction and entertainment but know that my heart is broken for everyone effected and I’m so so aware of the severity of the situation.
That my friends are my March monthly favourites! I hope you enjoyed it and will check out my others if you haven’t already. What have been your favourite things this month??
